Written for a good friend who went through a rough time with her dad.

Darkness is lurking in the corner of her eyes
Sitting lonely in answer, waiting in an ocean run dry
Singing lonely songs, breaking habits not yet known
Crying long hours, sitting by the phone

Mystifying thoughts swirling in her head
Running past planets, lingering on plains yet to forget
Shivering in my arms, afraid of the dark light
She’s just a child, unable to fight

I call on the one that causes her pain
Bring her joy, like drenching spring rain
Make her heart throb true love
Set her loose, free as a dove

Presently she prays for reasons unknown
Hiding infinitely, masks are shown
Smiling a smile so undefinably dead
Sliding the distance, longing to forget

Hands covered in blood, she screams at the sky
Wishing past stars and heaven, wanting to die
She lies to herself, waiting for luck
Sinking away in life draining, black mud

She runs to the Black Book, to find some peace
She listens to whispers of angel’s passionate grief
Causing a hole in her warm tangled heart
To herself, going on has become an art

Now as she lies down to close her eyes
Demons whisper dark secrets, to fall, not to rise
She dreams of the light that she once knew
And visions caress her mind of what is to do
